Legal Question in Business Law in Nevada

Contract Cancellation

A company Director, whom I recently replaced, signed a 4 year contract for online technical training. The training is not useful and is costing $19,000 per year for the next four years. The contract specifically states cancellation can only happen if there is a breach on either side. A breach on our side will not relieve us of the obligation to pay. Is there a state law that allows me to cancel this ''long-term'' contract? Any way out of this situation?

Re: Contract Cancellation

There are "technicallities" that might allow you out of the contract. Was the corporation a party to the contract or did it mention the director's name as the person with whom the agreement is being made? Are there requirements that the training company must complete before the contract is effective? ie. update your computers so that you can retrieve the technical training or meet with your company personally to answer questions. Since the contract is in writing, I would need to read it to determine if there any state laws that would allow you out of the contract. Finally, you might be able to negotiate out of the contract by getting them to agree to a reduced fee or lump sum settlement.
