corporate operating agreements
is it a good idea to require a unanimous vote among board members in an operating agreement?

It all depends on what your interest in the LLC is. For example, if you were a 1% owner, having veto power, would be very desirable. However, if you were 99% owner, you would not want to grant veto power to a 1% owner. I strongly suggest consulting an attorney to represent you in the formation of the subject LLC.

Usually not because it gives one poerson veto ability over action. If that is what you want to accomplish, though, then it is perfectly permissible. Whether it is a "good idea" would depend on the specific facts of your company.
