Legal Question in Business Law in Nevada
An invalid contract
I purchased a vehicle two months ago and now realized that the contract that I signed is incorrect. I live in the county of Nye in Nevada, but the contract states Clark. First I was taxed more because of that mistake, but now I am wondering if the contract is valid or legal. Every paper with my address on it states ''Clark.'' I wouldn't be this anal but the dealership has screwed me way too much.
Thank you.

Re: An invalid contract
I would be interested in hearing how the dealership "screwed" you before giving a definite answer, but generally, a clerical error is insufficient basis for invalidating a contract. Particularly if you have already enjoyed the benefits and commenced fulfilling all the duties outlined in the contract. You should, however, be entitled to a refund of overtax, if Nye County's is lower than Clark's. If, in fact, you have been stung by some other kind of misdealing by the seller, there may still be justification for avoiding the contract, but the wrong county in the paperwork is not enough. If, for example, you live in Tonopah and the paperwork properly reflects your address as Tonopah, Nevada, you are sufficiently identified for the purposes of the paperwork, regardless of the mis-named county.
