Legal Question in Business Law in Nevada

I live in Nevada, but bought an extended warranty for my car through a dealer in California. The process was frustrating since the finance agent would never return my calls and emails. Eventually, he sent me a contract which we both signed and he collected payment from me. After that he never sent me anything proving I had a policy. He just said via email, "your contract is your policy". I went to a local dealer to get some work done on my car and the policy didn't show in the system. I called the dealer where I bought the policy from for a couple of weeks with no reply. Finally, I got an email from him stating not to worry and the policy was in place. I brought my car to my local dealer for some repairs and half way through the process I received a call from my local service agent and was told that my warranty policy didn't exist per the warranty company. Also, there was already $2k worth of work done.

I immediately called the dealer that I purchased the warranty from and spoke to the finance manager. After reviewing the paperwork his agent sent me, I was told that he never should have sold me a policy since I lived out of state and everything was null and void, also the dealership let their ability to sell these policies run out and forgot to renew - but they would refund my premium. I explained that not only did I have $2K in repair bills, I also had to find and purchase another (more expensive) policy now as well as find a rental car until the matter could be resolved. The next day, the agent that sold me the policy called me and pretty much said it was my fault for not calling the warranty company directly and verify that the policy was in fact - real and valid. I explained that was his job and not only did I have an executed contract, HE also verified that my policy was in place via email. After laughing at my comments, he said it was my problem to fix. I told him that I wanted to speak to the general manager, but he wouldn't transfer me.

What legal recourse do I have? I am (or will be out a lot of money) between repairs and buying a new warranty. Since this is a major dealership (Courtesy Motors), I would expect them to be more professional, but that was expecting way too much. Please let me know what can be done. Thanks.

Michael
