Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Nevada
me and my brother have been renting rooms from parents for over 3 yrs. now parents are getting divorce and dad left to gf place to live.both parents are on morgage. dad is trying to evict me and my brother. what can we do to prevent this because we are helping mom.
1 Answer from Attorneys
That's a difficult question to answer on the facts given. One possible method of stopping an eviction, lies with your mother's property rights. If your parents hold a joint title, only your mother can stop the eviction. If the title is joint, your mother can oppose the eviction based on her half ownership. You and your brother have no rights to possess any part of this property without a lease, or at least one of your parent's permission. Have you and your brother ever thought of moving out of your parent's house? That would be the adult thing to do.
