Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Nevada

Bugged lines at place of employement

My supervisor doesn't like me and wants to try to fire me. I have been on my job for 9 years and I work for a municipality. Recently, I have reason to suspect that my employer bugged my private line at work to eavesdrop on my conversation and try to use personal information against me in order to attempt to fire me. (I have heard one of his ''henchmen'' repeat parts of my conversation.) The conversation I'm concerned about was private. I am aware that they can and do monitor usage, (time, occurrance, etc.) but I am not an abuser and only use my line occasionally ,otherwise I'm sure he would have tried progressive discipline regarding the phone. Is it legal for them to do this? If it is legal for them to bug the line, can they single me out for this type of surveillance and not anyone else at work?

Re: Bugged lines at place of employement

Under the current state of the law you have no expectation of privacy while at work. Both your telephone and computer use may be monitored whether for business or personal use.

You will be well advised not to conduct any personal business while at work or be prepared for the information to be shared.
