Legal Question in Consumer Law in Nevada

Using Our Mailing Address

Not sure if this really falls under Consumer Law. I live in an apartment with my girlfriend. My girlfriend's father has been using our mailing address to apply for credit cards and membership in AARP. He has never lived with us at any time. What can we do about this and how can we stop him?

Re: Using Our Mailing Address

My first question would be, "what harm has resulted from his use of your address?" If you are receiving bills or other mail at your address as a result of his using it as though he lived there, the solution is pretty simple -- just mark anything that arrives with his name "NOT AT THIS ADDRESS" and put it back on the mailbox. The senders will get the message quickly. If you really want to be nice, you could put his actual address for forwarding, but you are not required to do so. You need to tell your g/f's dad that he does not have permission to use your address (is she on board with you here?), and that you are simply refusing any deliveries. He'll stop when he finds that nothing is coming through to him.
