Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

Collection Agencies

I have a collection agency that set me up for a garnishment that i agreed to by signing a contract...i kept track of the amount that was garnished...called the collection agency when i thought the garnishment should have been over..only to find out that the garnishment had a daily interest rate attached to it...the original garnishment was for approx. over $5,000...so when I thought i should be done with agency i called them to see why i was still being garnished and they informed me that i still owed an additional $2,000..to date i have given this collection agency approximatley $11,000.00 on a $5,000 garnishment...is this legal? or do I have some type of legal recourse to recoupe some of my money????...I can't help but feel this is illegal and because of my ignorance of the law, they continue to take advantage of me and feed off of my fear...

Re: Collection Agencies

You need to provide more information. I would need to see a copy of whatever document you signed when you say you "signed a contract" by which you "agreed" to the garnishment. You can send me a copy (NOT THE ORIGINAL OR YOUR ONLY COPY) of that document and I will try to respond with my thoughts.
