Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

Collection agency collecting a fabricated fee

I had to go to the emergency room while on vacation in Las Vegas, NV. I had a piece of food lodged in my throat and wasn't able to swallow. After waiting three hours in the waiting room, a nurse took my temperature and blood pressure. I then waited another three hours, when the obstruction dislodged itself. I left the hospital, happy I didn't have to have surgery. My insurance received a bill for the trauma nurse taking my temp, which they paid, my co-pay was $9.10, which I paid. The bill however, which was itemized, was less than the standard fee of an ER visit that the insurance company and hospital had negotiated. This was because I never received any services other than a nurse taking my BP and temp. When the hospital was only paid what was on the itemized bill, they sent me a second bill charging me the difference. When I asked my insutance company about this, they said that the hospital was wrong in charging me the fee and that I shouldn't pay it. What legal action can I take to prevent the collection agency from continuing to harass me?

Re: Collection agency collecting a fabricated fee

Send them a copy of the paid bill and tell them in writing that all further communications are to be in writing. You may have to sue the hospital in order to finally get the matter resolved.
