garnashment

my checks are being garnished for a debt that shows, written off as a bad dedt. and charge off on my credit report. Is this legal?

Yes, if they got a judgment. What will happen is a creditor will write off the debt as a bad debt and sell it to a collection agency. They will sue you and try to collect, which is what they are doing.
