Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

Identity Theft & Contract Forgery

Can an individual whose name was forged on a Sallie Mae loan contract be held lible for the debt? The school has already reported $1300 to the credit bureau(s. The loan was for my son,to attend NCI in North Carolina and he forged my name, as well as illegal use of my Social Security number on the same contract. What options do I have to settle this matter. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Re: Identity Theft & Contract Forgery

Assuming you made a police report as soon as you found out and got him arrested (you need to swear out a warrant), you should have few problems. Unless you did that, you are goingt o be deemed to have okayed him signing your name3 and probably are stuck. So if you want to pursue this, within a day or two of finding out, make your police report (if it crosses state lines also call in the FBI) and be prepared to put your child in jail if that happens. Once you have done that, within 30 days, do a written dispute by certified mail and attach the police reports.
