Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

Non-Payment of Services - multiparty

I live in Ohio and have done some web-programming (freelance) for a self-employed consultant in Nevada. One of his/our clients owes us a fair sum from 2 years ago. My contractor (the consultant) has a lawsuit in progress against the client and has for over a year. I have been paid nothing and am tired of waiting but so far have not pushed the issue out of respect and in effort of maintaining our business relationship. What should I do? Should I (and can I) sue my contractor when he's already suing the client (which I have provided input into)? And would it hurt my case any if I formally requested/demanded payment directly first? And if I do need a lawyer, I guess I would need one familiar with Ohio state, Nevada state, intellectual property rights, collections, and I-dont-know how many other laws.

Re: Non-Payment of Services - multiparty

It does not sound like you have legal recourse against anyone except the party with whom you contracted.

Your written contract may spell out which State's laws apply, and in which court a legal action may be filed, if any.

Your attorney can explain further.
