Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

Repossession

Last year I co-signed for my then fiancee to get a truck,he made the payments for a year. and then quit making payments in March. The finance company said they were going to reposse the truckthis went on for five months all of a sudden my ex, calls me and says the truck is gone, I called the finance company to see if they did in fact reposse the truck they told me they did not have the vehicle. So he says it must have been stolen..The finance company calls me everyday, they have been made aware of the things that are happening, as my ex-fiancee refuses to talk to them, I on the other hand always take the calls, and let them know what I have been told. I am in California now and he is in Nevada..My question's are:Is there anything I can do to get the finance company to quit calling me, as I have told them Many times my only income right now is child support,,and if my ex-fiancee had anything to do with this truck being stolen, what can I do if anything to protect myself. Thank You

Re: Repossession

You can tell them to stop calling you. You should do so, in writing. You should also report the vehicle stolen to the police.

Re: Repossession

In addition to what Mr. Selik states, report the theft to the insurance carrier, with the caveat that it is your ex- who -says- it was stolen. If it was in fact stolen, the insurance company would pay the lender something for the truck assuming that your ex- had nothing to do with the theft. But make sure to attribute the report to your ex- and explain that you are not in control of the situation.
