Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

I have been summoned to "serve upon Cavalry Portfolio Services' attorney (debt collection agency) an answer to a complaint. Does my answer have to be a letter from an attorney or can I write the response myself?

I am not sure without seeing the papers. A person may represent themselves, but I do not recommend it. A corporation must be represented by a lawyer.
