Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada

asault

my son was charged assault after he was atacked after school by another boy and they are claming mutual combat but my son had no intention of fighting but had to defend himself and nocked the other boy out only 2 punches were thrown by my son then he turned and left to get away from the boy befor he got up . my son is mildly mentaly handicaped so he has a hard time exsplaining things like that to athority figuers so im afraid there going to railraod him and he doesent nead this on his record i could realy use a good stratigy for his defence since they wont give him an atturney and i cant aford one . there are 2 witneses my other son and his girlfreand thank you

The issue in self defense is whether the response to the attack was reasonable or excessive in proportion to the amount of force used by the attacker. If your son was mildly shoved and he knocked a kid out that would be unreasonable. If your kid was punched hard and he punched back with a ko that would not be excessive.
