Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada
Charges
Once someone has been arrested, how long does the district attorney have before they have to formally file charges? Can someone go to court within the first 72 hours of being arrested and yet still not be formally charged for another 48 hours?

Re: Charges
Someone can be arrested and charged much later than 72 hours. However, if the person is in custody the person must be brought before a justice of the peace or magistrate within 72 hours and if no charges are filed that person will be released. If released, however, charges can be brought up to a year later.
