Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada

Is there a right to counsel?

I want to know. If a person is being represented by an attorney, and that attorney ''DROPS'' them due to lack of money, do they have the right to seek new counsel before the court proceeds with the case?

Re: Is there a right to counsel?

The sixth amendment of the U.S. Constitution as interpreted by the Supreme Court, gives persons deprived of life or liberty the right to counsel.

In a civil case, where normally life or liberty is not at stake, only monetary damages, the courts normally will grant a short continuance to get counsel, but will not appoint counsel for you.
