Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada
Entered a plea of guilty for shoplifting
I live in Florida and was visiting a family member in Las Vegas. I went into a department store and stole some cd's, I don't know what I was thinking(obviously I was not thinking) I have never done this before, I was 19 years old, and I knew better. I was offered to enter a plea of guilty for the offense of Petit Larceny(misdemeanor) which I did and I paid a fine, I did this because I live in Florida and I would not have been able to come back for the court date. Was this a mistake and is thier anything I can do to expunge my record, I have heard that this will affect me getting employment, as I will need to put on the job application that I have been convicted of a crime. Please help. Also the store I stole the cd's from are requiring me to pay $350 in damages, I am unemployed and in school, I am trying to find employment, but I do not have much work experience, and have been denied a job already. I feel I have messed up my future with this stupid act. I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide.

Re: Entered a plea of guilty for shoplifting
You could file a motion to set aside your plea but you would have to show good cause. You should have gotten an attorney. He could have gotten you in the diversion program.
