Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada

I was involved in a rental scam that cost me my entire deposit money by a individual who was posing as the owner of a property that was actually owned by a out of state owner. I am in Nevada and the actual owner is in California.

The fraud was revealed on move in day when myself and three others all showed up to move into the same property on the same day.

The perp is gone, the money is gone and I have no where to live.

My question is can hold the out of state owner responsible for the looses and suffering inflicted by this fraud committed on their property?

Thanks.

Alan

Only if he/she was involved. It would not be just to make the real owner pay for losses the fake owner caused unless the real owner played a part in the scam.

If the fraudster had claimed to be the real owner's agent, and if the real owner had made this claim seem authentic by his acts or omissions, then you might have a decent case against the owner. But this theory won't work if the fraudster claimed he actually was the owner.
