Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada
My wife is charged with petty embezzlement. She stole money from a job she used to have. This is her first offense...ever. The case has already been arraigned and a pretrial set. We don't have money for a 'regular lawyer', so a public defender was assigned. What we would like to know is: "What is the WORST case scenario that could become of this?"

Well, of course, this would be an excellent question to ask the attorney who is representing your wife. There could be jail time for this offense depending on how much money was stolen and over how long a period of time. Her clean criminal record will work to her advantage in this regard. Without knowing more about the case it is hard to determine more than that.
