Legal Question in Criminal Law in Nevada

Work at Home SCAM...

I answered an ad for working at home. With extremely high pressure, I gave in to the sales pitch. After having second thoughts, tried to cancel. They said they couldn't credit my credit card, a check would be sent. After months of unanswered calls, I find out from the BBB that they've gone out of business. (My calls, emails, etc., have been documented.) According to the employee that finally returned my email, the man running the previous business took my $719 that I paid for software and left, leaving them with the company debt. He provided me with the man's name and address, but I'm not sure just how I should go about getting my money back? Any help would be MOST appreciated. Thank you!!!

You should file a Complaint with the Attorney General's office either in your state or Nevada. Otherwise you can come to Las Vegas for a small claims' court action.

I would notify the MA or NV Attorney General's office. I am sure that you are not the only "victim". The Attorney General's office should be able to point you in the right direction. Martha Kovner

You can try to request a "charge back" from your credit card company. On the back of your monthly statement are specific instructions on how to do this. You must describe the transaction in detail and submit your request in writing. Even if the company allows you to file the request by email, you must follow up with a copy by snail mail.
