citation serving minor alcohol
What advice do you have for a bartender that was caught in a sting operation, serving alcohol to a minor? The bartender checked the ID and the information seemed to match the person being served.

The state has the burden of proving that you intended to serve a minor. If you checked the ID and it was a reasonable looking ID, it will be difficult to prove. The liquor control board does this on occasion with bars and liquor stores, usually without anyone checking ID. My advice it to plead not guilty. The courts are really busy with other crimes and you should be able to avoid a conviction. (Unless it happens a alot) A fee on this should be around 3K
