Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada
After 7 years of absence, I received notice from the State of Hawaii that I still have child support arrears. I am now almost 70 years old and on Social Security. the state of Hawaii has hit me with about $10,000 in arrears. My sons are all now grown up (the youngest being 37 years old). It looks like my ex-spouse has filed for more child support. All my sons are now on their own & very successful with their respective business.
I am actually looking for a lawyer to assist me.

I am assuming that you live in Nevada and that the Clark County District Attorney's Office has opened a case against you.

Respectfully, no one here is going to be able to actually resolve your problem; the D.A. here is merely enforcing an order entered elsewhere, and no matter how much money you throw at a local practitioner, the underlying obligation cannot be addressed or resolved from here.
I suggest that you retain competent counsel in Hawaii. If you do not have counsel who you trust there, consider a first call to Bill Darrah:
William C. Darrah, Esq.
737 Bishop Street, Ste. 2820

If that does not work out, you should still probably seek consultation with an appropriate family law specialist. I would suggest starting your search with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, which can be viewed at http://www.aaml.org. Good luck.
