Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

abandonment by your spouse

My husband left our home one month ago. he refuses to speak with me and ALL our bills are due, ck acct is overdrawn rent is late etc. he will not discuss a divorce nor will he discuss the fact that our life so to speak is going down the toilet. Will he ultimately have to be responsible for these actions monetarily for the fact that he did NOT hold up his end of the bargain and now MY life is essentially RUINED due to him LEAVING me holding the bag?

Re: abandonment by your spouse

You have the ability to file for divorce in Nevada on your own. If you file for a divorce, the Court has the ability to freeze your assets to allow for your bills and debts to be properly paid.

All bank accounts, property, homes, etc. that were acquired during the marriage for the use of both would be considered community property and used to satisfy all financial obligations of the couple.

If you would like to speak to an attorney in my office about the procedures for initiating a divorce decree, contact my office to schedule a consultation.
