Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Alimony

I have been a stay-at-home mom for two years with my two young children. Neither of them are in school yet, but my husband, who wants this divorce, thinks I should just go out and get a job and then he won't have to pay any alimony. I have no money for legal fees, so I am trying to do as much as I can myself as far as the paper work goes. I am just a little unsure of what a reasonable amount of alimony I should request, if any. I had a $30K job and quit because he asked me to. What are my rights in this area? Thank you very much.

Re: Alimony

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately you don't mention his income. Spousal support is dependant upon the length of the marriage, the age, health, station in life of both parties, the husband's income and the wife's skills and ability to work, how long the wife has been out of the work force, etc. If you wish to continue pursuing this matter on your own you may wish to look at the Nevada cases that have discussed alimony.
