Annulment

Can i get an annulment of my marriage if i have been married over a year but recently learned of my spouces drug/gambling/drinking addictions? Or am i better going for the divorce? Please help!

None of these lawyers told you that you can try for annulment and divorce at the same time. If you can prove annulment, the judge will give you that, if you can, the judge will divorce you.

Unless you discussed this before the marriage and made it an issue then, a divorce is the better option, although you can sue for either/or.

If you ask for annulment you have to prove "fraud" etc. If the court doesn't believe you have proved your claim they can deny the annulment. If you ask for a divorce all you have to do is allege incompatability, no proof is necesary. It is easier to get the divorce.

Annulments have the effect of completely undoing your marriage as if it had never happened. You need to be able to show that the marriage was obtained by fraud or that your spouse was already married. You probably are better served by trying to obtain a divorce as divorce is easily obtained in Nevada.
