Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada
Arrearages
My ex & I divorced in 02. The only way he would sign the papers was if I granted him custody of our 2 children. Recently he has rec'd orders to Germany, in which the judge granted him full custody and ability to take them with him. Now I have been slapped with arreages, which claims that I have not paid for any type of support. This is not true. I have my recpts and have been paying for the past few years, however now CS is taking the payments from my wages. My tax return has also been withheld, and the CS tells me that I still owe almost $6 grand more. How do I fight this? What documents can I file? It seems that none of the recpts that I provided to CS has been accounted for.

Re: Arrearages
Calm down. You dont have a legal problems so much as an accounting problem. This is a very easy problem to solve. You calculate the total child support amount that is owed by the number of months since the order- this will give you the total that was to be paid. Now you add up all of your receipts, + the total of the wage garnishments and tax intercepts and this equals the amount you paid. If you paid more than you owe- you get a credit; if you paid less than the total due you will have an arrears. Very Simple
