Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

I have been with my boyfriend for 8 months now.He has two kids and the mother has not been around for the same amount of time.The older sn of my boyfriend has type one diabetes and is insulin dependent.I have been supporting them(buying their clothes,paying for the older son's doctor's appointments,his insulin,test strips,food,etc)been making sure they go to school and caring for them.I have been living with them as well for the same amount of time.My question is,is it possible for me to file for custody against the mother who has literally abandoned them?

Would it not make more sense for the boyfriend to request full custody?
