Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada
Change of name
I was common law married over 30 years ago and had two children. I took his name without having papers saying so. I have never had a problem until now. I went down to get my drivers license in Nevada and they told me I had to show my marriage license or common law papers. I told them I have no such paper and was denied a license. I have been using this name for over 30 years and have everything, credit cards, my car, my art work, in my name. Now I'm told they can only issue a license in my maiden name and only if I get my social security card in my maiden name also. Is there any way I can legally get my name changed to the name I have been using for the past 30 years. I hope you can help me with this problem.
Thanks for your time.

Just file a Petition to Change Name in Family Court. The Court will issue an official Order changing your name.
