child custody
birth mother lives in south carolina, father lives in las vegas, joint custody of 9 year old sonwith primary residence being with father. Father has been arrested for sexual assualt with minor step-daughter. Step mom has sent the son away to some family member of hers until they go to court on fathers charges. she will not let birth mom know where the son is or how to contact him, can the step mom be charged with kidnapping. how would birth mom go about getting custody of son

It would be a felony to unilaterally take a child from another state. A motion would need to be filed for a change of custody in the court where custody was determined.
