child support without custody papers

my seven year old son has lived with me primarily since i separated from his father five years ago. we were not married and we have never filed custody/child support papers. he has always made more than me. can i file for child support now?

Yes, but you can only go back four years.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Nevada law would allow you to file a petition for custody and support even though you were never married and have been separated for five years. If your child has been living with you during this period you would very likely be able to receive primary physical custody in a Court order.

Additionally, you would be able to request retroactive child support of the father going back for a period of four (4) years.
