Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Child Support

I'm 6 months pregnant and the baby's father left when I was 4 months pregnant. I live with my parents and when they spoke to him he said he was unemployed and he couldn't help me with nothing. I know he has a car and pays $300 a month and he uses his fathers name to get employed.

Can I file for child support even if I'm pregnant and can I get some money even if hes not working and hes paying a car?

Re: Child Support

You should go to welfare and apply for assistance, especially if you are over 18. You will probably get medicaid which will give you medical insurance for your prenatal care and health insurance for you and the baby after its birth.

After the baby is born, welfare will ask the District Attorney to establish a child support case against the person you say is the father.

The DA will seek to establish paternity and set child support. In Nevada, the minimum monthly child support obligation is $100.00 per month even if someone is unemployed.

Re: Child Support

You have to wait until the baby is born before you can file a paternity action and seek child support and expenses related to the birth of the baby.
