Should a Canadian - divorced in Canada, now living in the USA, take out US citizenship, and the divorced spouse still lives in Canada, can the now US citizen force the divorce laws of the US State take precedence?

Your question is rather vague, the answer to your question will depend on certain variables; for example:

1) Is there a child custody matter pending? You may invoke US state jurisdiction on such matters.

2) Does your inquiry concern property within the U.S.?

There are other matters that would affect whether US or Canadian law would apply.
