Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Divorce in Nevada

Is a divorce in Nevada legal in CA? How long does it take to get it and do I have to be present in Nevada to process the divorce? I would like to get a quick divorce. There are not any children involved. All property has either been sold or agreed upon as to who it belongs to and that the other party has not right to the others property.

Re: Divorce in Nevada

Nevada divorces obtained are valid everywhere in the US under the "full faith and credit" clause of the US constitution.

Usually one of the parties to the divorce must be a Nevada resident for more than six weeks to qualify for a Nevada divorce. There are other ways to qualify, but they seldom apply.

It can be quick or it can be lengthy - it depends on whether the other party is willing to sign papers to agree to the divorce and if his/her whereabouts are known.
