Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada
divorce,child support
I married a woman(in Las Vegas)13 mos ago. We are seeking divorce. She had 4 children(5,8,10,12)we have none together. The children are covered by a previous support order (previous divorce in Florida)The father does not pay dispite the child support order.
We are planning on using a (#9a) Joint Petition for Summary Decree of Divorce (no kids)She is not seeking alamony. The form does not address child support. She says she is not seeking child support, however,
This form appears to extingush a lot of rights I might have.
The question is:
Can the court impose child support via use of this ''form'' divorce?
Thank You

No. The Court will not make you pay child support but you will have no rights to visitation to children which are not yours after such a short marriage.

No.

You do not have a child support obligation for children that are not yours and that you didn't adopt. If you have any concerns about what you are agreeing to and what you are signing in the "form" divorce documents, you should have an attorney prepare the documents or at least have an attorney review the documents. I cannot tell you the number of people that find themselves with problems because they either agreed to something they should not have or forgot to include something essential in their "form" decree.
