Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Ex-wife's attorney has liened my property

During my divorce proceedings, i was awarded exclusive possesion of our jointly owned property before the divorce was final. My ex-wife failed to pay her attorneys fees. The attorney filed to have a lien placed on my property for fees, even though my ex was not awarded attorneys fees in the final decree. Is this legal? if not, how do go about getting the lien removed?

Re: Ex-wife's attorney has liened my property

More than likely what the attorney did is filed his or her lien with the county recorder's office which means that the lien simply attaches to anything titled in her name. If you were awarded the house in the divorce and your wife no longer has an interest in the home, you need to get your wife's name off the title to the home. Also, if your wife no longer has an interest in the home, you need to call the attorney that filed the lien to discuss removal of the lien.
