Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

family law

My ex-husband and I have joint custody of our 12 year old son, but he has always stayed with me during the week and every other weekend. About 9 months ago I became very ill with congestive heart failure. I asked my ex if he could take care of him untill I got better.

when I did, he refused to allow me to even see him. 2 weeks ago he went hunting in Montana, and left our son alone to care for himself. He left him money, and frozen food, and asked the neighbor to make sure he was awake to go to school. When I found out, I went and got him. He came back early when he found out I had him Is it legal to eave a child alone at that age, and what self- help forms do I need to keep him from bringing the police to enforce his visitation.

Re: family law

A situation like yours where your ex-husband leaves your son in an irresonsibly dangerous situation can be grounds for a Court to modify your joint custody agreement. In order to do so you need to file a Petition to Modify Child Custody with the Clark County Family Court.

My office routinely handles such matters. We always strive to meet the financial needs of our clients by offering payment plans and flat fees. If you'd like to discuss your situation contact my office for a free consultation.
