Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada
My girlfriend and her daughter age 6 recently moved in. She worked grave and I days. We were happy and everything was great. One day she was supposed to leave me her car with the car seat in it so I could take her child to her friends house before work. I was to stop by and get directions. With five minutes left before I had to leave, I realized she didn't leave me her car. She worked 2,000 feet away at the corner and since I didn't have a car seat, I told her daughter I would be right back. I was there and back within five min. Her daughter told her real dad (50%custody)and he is going for full custody. She said her attorney told her she had to leave me or she would lose her daughter. I'm a teacher, but didn't know the law pertaining and knew it was illegal to have them in the car without a car seat. If she is with me will she really lose custody?

The problem was: you shouldn't have left the child unattended--even for 5 mins. You should have taken the child with you. Or, you should have found someone responsible to watch the child. Or, you should have risked/accepted the fact that you were going to be late and walked there.
I would suggest that you voluntarily take some parenting classes--usually they are free or very inexpensive. Do this on your own as a sign that you recognize that you have something to learn and are willing to learn. The attendance of the classes may help your girlfriend's case.
The carseat law is less than 60 lbs. or under 6 yrs. old.
