Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Interest charged on child support

Does Nv charge interest on unpaid or back child support? And If my ex claims months I missed and I have proof I paid, is there a law where she has to pay $500 for each month?

Re: Interest charged on child support

Thank you for your inquiry.

Nevada does charge interest on unpaid child support; the current market interest rate is 9.25%. If you have financial records indicating that you had paid child support this would be a complete defense to any petition. Additionally, if all requested back pay has been paid you could recover attorneys' fees for her filing a frivolous motion.

In regards to her paying you $500/month such a reimbursement of double-paid child support would be credited toward your future payments.

Yes, the legal rate was 10.25% last year and this year is 9.25%. I don't know anything about the $500 but if she takes you to court saying you didn't pay and you have proof, you could get attorney's fees and money for her lying.
