Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada
My ex and I have Joint Legal and Joint Physical custody of our 5 year old son. My ex got laid off from her job last year and has been on unemployment. Because my ex does not work currently, i am paying child support of 18% of my gross monthly income, which is approx. $560/month. What am i able to do to reduce the child support payments because we have equal time with our son since it is a Joint Legal and Joint Physical custody arrangement. I feel my ex is taking advantage of me and not making effort to find steady employment and contribute to supporting our son.

Actually, the rules are pretty straightforward. For joint custody, it is the "Wright v. Osburn offset test," moderated by the presumptive maximums, all explained at length on our Child Custody page, and in the Rivero case, which is posted on that page. See: http://www.willicklawgroup.com/child_support.
If that explanation is not sufficient, or you need advice as to how it will be applied, you should probably seek consultation with an appropriate family law specialist. If you decide you would like to discuss this with one of the attorneys of this firm, please take a look at our consultation policies, procedures, and costs, at http://www.willicklawgroup.com/consultation_policies.
