Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada
I just learned that my daughter is pregnant and will not be marrying the childs father. They live together in Nevada. Will she have legal custody of the child when it is born or will they both share custody?

She will have custody until the baby's father petitions the court for a custody and visitation order. She can have him sign an "Affidavit of Paternity" which, if they both sign, is as legally strong as a court order. She will want to contemplate the custody because she cannot get a child support order without him also seeking at least a visitation order.
In Nevada, an unmarried mother is the legal custodian, per Nevada law, until a court enters an order adjudicating (deciding) custody.
