Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

I got married over 20 years ago and am happy to report I still am. When I got married I dropped my middle name and began using my maiden name as my middle name. At the time I was asked what name I would be known by and I was more than happy to drop a hated middle name. I have a SS card, a passport and my drivers licenses when I lived in FL and CO used this new name. I recently moved to NV and when I went to change my drivers license they refused to issue the license with the name I have used for over 20 years and insisted I have to use my original, on my birth certificate, middle name. Now my drivers license does not match my credit cards, my bank accounts, my home and car titles, my passport, my SS card and all other legal documents from the last 20 years. What can I do to fix this...and why did NV insist on this?

Only DMV can answer why. To solve the propblem altogether. You could petition the familiy cour for alegal name change. Once the court issues its order changing your name to whatever you want, DMV will have to honor the court order.

Please contact me if you are interested in legally changing your name.
