Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Could someone please tell me what I need to do to get a first name on my original birth certificate and to leave my biological father's name blank? I cannot afford an attorney. Is it possible to do this myself or obtain a resource for pro bono legal assistance? It's my understanding the courts recognize the man my birth mother was married to at the time of my conception as my biological father. I have a sophisticated blood test to prove he is not my father. I would prefer to leave the father unknown if at all possible. There is no name on my birth certificate resulting from an incomplete adoption and my original birth certificate was never sealed or replaced with an amended one. Thank you!

Some of your question seems a bit confusing; there should not be incomplete birth certificates floating around. If you can't resolve the matter directly with the Clark County Vital Statistics folks (http://www.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/birth-certificates.php) then you really should seek out an attorney well versed in adoption and birth certificate matters, like Ishi Kunin, Esq. (438-8060).

If, as you say, you really can't afford counsel, the local Pro Bono provider is the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, which can be called at 702-386-1070 (or see their information on the web at http://www.lacsn.org/option,com_jcalpro/Itemid,3/extmode,view/extid,15/). Those that take pro bono cases take them after they have been screened, and assigned, by Legal Aid. The Reduced Fee Panel sponsored by the State Bar can be reached at 702-382-2200. For those that wish to attempt self-representation, forms are available at the Clark County self-help center website, at http://www.co.clark.nv.us/district_court/self_help_center.htm.
