Pre-Marital Agreements

How long before I get married do I have to file a Pre-Marital Agreement? Basically, how long does it takes to process once submitted to court?

Re: Pre-Marital Agreements

You don't have to file a pre-nuptial agreement. Just have it formally signed and witnessed and filed away. It is for use if you ever get divorced or have disputes during marriage.

Reply: Pre-Marital Agreements

Your question indicates some confusion on your part. A Pre- Nuptial Agreement is not filed with the Court. You need to let at least seven days go by between the time you obtain a document review from your attorney and the date you sign the agreement.

This is a practice area that requires skill and knowledge of California law. I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!

Re: Pre-Marital Agreements

You don't have to file it. You should have it duly signed and notarized before the marriage. Good luck and thanks for inquiring.
