Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

My ex just received child support papers and now he is threatening to take me to court for custody (100% custody). I told him go ahead he will never get it. I'm just wondering if he really trys to get a lawyer to spite me, how does it work. Will we go to mediation first? I don't have money for a lawyer. He gets in every weekend, so its not like he doesn't see him.
