Substitution of attorney

7 days before custody trial my ex-wife and her attorney decide that he is withdrawing as counsel and she is representing herself. They do not file a form through the court, but fax it to my attorney. We have been in a custody process for a year and a half. Can her attorney withdraw like that?

Unless your wife is an attorney I think that the Judge would have to approve such a substitution so close to trial.
