Legal Question in Immigration Law in Nevada

Hi. I'm hoping to find some help with the following: I came to the U.S. from Guatemala, legally, on a tourist visa in 1992. I applied for asylum in 1993 and I still haven't heard anything about that. I also applied for a work permit as a person who entered the country illegally. That was advised to me by my attorney - the attorney's office was later closed for fraud business. Up to this day I am renewing my work permit. As far as documents go, I have a ssn and a driver's license. My questions are: Is there any way I can apply for a adjustment of status? Also, is there any way I can apply for legal residency? Thank you very much for your help and answers!
