Illegal Marriage

I found out that my husband altered his birthcertificate lied about his social securtiy number and now won't sign divorce papers what do I do? He is an illegal immigrant which again I found out after marriage. He won't divorce me because he is afraid of deportation. We were married in 2002. How can I get out?

I think you would be better served posting this question to a family law / divorce attorney. Or perhaps you should just call the police about the fraud. Anyway, if he is "illegal," i.e., he came to the US without a status, your marriage probably doesn't give him status anyway. If it did give him status, it did so already. Either way, the divorce probably doesn't affect his status. He should double check with an immigration attorney if he's worried about it. You should just go forward with the divorce.
