Re: Immigration And Divorce
It is likely that you may divorce without hurting your green card status, but delay citizenship. However, your question does not have enough background for me to give you a short answer. You do not mention whether you have already obtained either a conditional (two year) green card or if you have already had the conditions removed. If you would contact me directly, I will be better able to answer your question.
Best wishes.
Re: Immigration And Divorce
If by "immigrant" you mean one who has been granted lawful permanent resident (LPR) status and for whom any conditions to LPR status have been removed, then divorce does not preclude such immigrant from obtaining U.S. citizenship.

Re: Immigration And Divorce
If you have conditional greencard...in event of a divorce...you need to show that you have entered the marriage in good faith. If you do not have the condition then your status not at all in jeopardy..all you need is 5 years of continuous physical presence as green card holder to apply for citizenship.
