tax
i am a non US citizen who married
a citizen. im waiting for papers to
be processed but my husband
needs to file tax return. do i need
to get an ITIN or should i wait until
i am eligible for social?

In general, you can wait for the Social Security Number before you file. However, if you are planning to file a joint tax return with your husband (which is likely to be helpful evidence for the bona fides of the marital relationship you have with him), you may have to wait for the SSN or, in the alternative, you can obtain an EIN. Please note that it has been increasingly difficult for individuals not in valid status to obtain an EIN.
